The Placer SPCA is launching a brand-new, state-of-the-art Community Veterinary Hospital designed to expand access to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care throughout our region. This is an exceptional opportunity to help build this innovative program from the ground up, where community medicine, surgical excellence, and humane care unite under one mission: keeping pets healthy, safe, and at home with the people who love them.
We are seeking a visionary Director of Community Veterinary & Surgical Services to provide medical leadership for this new facility in partnership with the Community Veterinary Hospital Manager. The ideal candidate brings a passion for collaboration, team development, and clinical excellence — advancing Fear Free, low-stress, and Spectrum of Care principles that elevate both patient experience and community impact.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) and eligible for California licensure
- Current or eligible DEA registration for controlled substances
- Minimum 5 years of veterinary experience, including at least 3 years in HQHVSN, community, or general practice
- Proven leadership experience mentoring veterinarians and support staff
- Proficiency in high-quality, high-volume surgical techniques and anesthesia monitoring
- Strong knowledge of veterinary operations, client communication, and workflow management
- Commitment to Fear Free, low-stress, and Spectrum of Care principles
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with compassion and professionalism
- Valid California driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements
