HOSPITAL OVERVIEW-
A newly opening small animal urgent care located in Broken Arrow, OK. This practice will offer medical and surgical care for
urgent/emergency type cases as well as offering overnight care for neighboring hospital patients. Business hours will be from
mid-morning to mid-evening. The practice is privately owned and operated by a veterinarian with 20 years of experience working
in several sectors of veterinary medicine including general practice, academia, specialty practice, and the animal health
industry. The facility is equipped with all the amenities needed to diagnose, treat, and house urgent/emergency cases as well
as integrated equipment, patient care, and client services software. The culture of the practice is one of service to our patients,
their owners, and our neighboring veterinary hospitals combined with an emphasis on employee development and work-life
balance.
Requirements
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES – CANDIDATES ARE NOT EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO PERFORM ANY/ALL OF THE BELOW ITEMS
WITHOUT SUPERVISION BUT ARE EXPECTED WITH EXPERIENCE AND SUPPORT TO DEVELOP THESE SKILLS
- Communication - collecting detailed patient signalment and history from clients as well as providing patient status
 updates.
- Exams – completing and documenting physical exam findings.
- Sampling – proficient at collecting various diagnostic samples and being detailed and diligent in the proper handling
 and processing of those samples in a timely manner.
- Triage- comfortable working in a team setting to stabilize, diagnose, and initiate treatment on critical medical and
 surgical cases.
- Imaging- specifically the ability to generate high quality digital radiographs of multiple views using proper technique
 and safety protocols. Additionally, basic understanding of equipment and patient prep for ultrasonography.
- Hospitalization/Patient Care- comfortable executing treatment protocols and caring for hospitalized patients using
 associated paraphernalia (monitoring equipment, fluid/syringe pumps, nasogastric/esophagostomy tube care,
 urinary catheter/collection bag care, chest tube care, drains/bandages/splints/casts monitoring, etc.).
- Sedation & Anesthesia – comfortable calculating and dosing various sedatives as well as proficient with
 administering both injectable and inhalant anesthesia as well as patient monitoring for procedures of various lengths.
- Surgery- proficient maintaining sterile technique regarding patient prep, room set up, and equipment/supplies hand
 off.
- Documentation- utilize patient and client software for timely and appropriate medical record generation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in general small animal practice or urgent/ER setting.
- High degree of personal accountability and professionalism.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
